02/18: Response to Sarah Borland’s Blog Post

Sarah,

I enjoyed reading your blog post on Brian Eno. Like yourself, I had never heard of him before and he really is an interesting person to have learned about. I like how you said that his music gives this ‘feeling of space’ and it feels like you are ‘being lifted to something higher.’ He really does try to get the listener to experience music on a whole other level. They way he has influenced different artists and his way of producing such tracks makes him really something else. I think your post really describes Eno and how unique and talented he was. Great Job!

02/24: Response to Joshua Miller’s Blog Post

Josh,

You did a very good job describing the influence Kraftwerk had in the electronic world of music. You were able to summarize all of their albums from 1974-1981 and also described the success each album had on the charts. I completely agree with you when you said that musicians should be more like Kraftwerk in the sense of experimenting and creating something unique. Something I would have added if I were you is a little more detail describing their albums. Maybe giving key sounds or elements that stood out to you from those albums would have made it a little more stronger. Other then that, you did a good job in writing this post.

Josh,

I thought you did a great job describing the album Led Zeppelin IV and the impact it had in the music industry. You gave good insight on the album and the characteristics that made it different from anything else at the time. I also like how you gave your impression and the impact it will have on you within the next five years. I agree that the album is one of the most iconic rock-n-roll albums of all time. However, I think you could have given a few more examples regarding some of the mystery behind the album. Other than that, I think you wrote a great blog entry and I learned a few new things about Led Zeppelin IV.
